Key inclusion criteria1. Aged between 18 to 65 years
2. Non-organic psychiatric disorder other than all forms of addiction
3. Need of acute and intensive psychiatric treatment in hospital or day hospital
4. No absolute indication for in-patient treatment (treatment under the Mental Health Act, severe risk to themselves or others requiring supervision on a ward)
5. Not homeless or without social support
Key exclusion criteria1. Compulsory admission
2. Homelessness
3. Organic brain disorder
4. A primary diagnosis of an addictive disorder
5. Inability to give informed consent
