Study objectivesThe aim of this study is to benefit patients and their family carers by increasing timely diagnosis of dementia in Black African and Caribbean groups and thus allowing choice, symptomatic treatment, reduce carers’ depression, avoid crises, and delay care home admission.

InterventionLeaflet, "Getting help for forgetfulness" leaflet has been developed through focus groups and interviews with members of the Black African and Caribbean ethnic minorities. It is a psychoeducation tool aimed changing attitudes to help-seeking for memory problems.

Key inclusion criteriaPhase 1:
1. Aged 18 or over
2. Community group members who are from Black African or Carribean Minority Ethic groups who have given us permission to approach their members
3. Capacity to consent to participate

Phase 2:
1. Participants of phase 1 of the study who have agreed to be approached again
2. Family people with mild dementia
3. Capacity to consent to participate

Phase 3:
1. Black African or Carribean people who are registered with a GP
2. Aged 50 years or over
3. Able to provide consent to take part in the study
Key exclusion criteriaPeople who do not consent to participate or who lack capacity to consent to involvement in the study.
