Study objectivesThe aim of this study is to determine whether participation in a pulmonary rehabilitation programme is associated in a long term impact on health related quality of life as well as effective utilisation of health service provisions in older chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.

InterventionA randomised prospective trial, each subject having a 50-50 chance of being allocated to the treatment or control arms of the study. 200 Patients will be recruited, 100 into each arm.
